wont stay started

A little while back I had problems with my 93 Ford Ranger. It has a 4.0 6- cyclinder motor. It would spudder when I would decelerate and stall at every stop sign and stop light. When it stalled, it always started right back up and I went on my merry way. We changed the plugs and wires and the fuel filter. Finally we changed the ignition coil pack and that seems to have fixed it.

Today on my way to work, it stalled today at a stop sign and like always, it started right up. But this time, when I put it in drive, it would stall out again. Sometimes when it stalled, it was a rough stall. It would start and idle in neutral, but when it I put in drive, it would stall.

If anyone knows what it could be, I would appreciate it. I am not much of a gearhead, but if I know what direction to go in, I might be able to fix it.

It's tough to say from what little is known. Your latest problems do sound like a lack of fuel pressure. But it could also be a MAP sensor.

Have a check engine light?

I had a VERY similar problem on another vehicle and it ended up being a vacuum leak, one of the hoses had popped off and it was just that simple. Might be worth checking. One way to check vacuum leaks is use a can of starter fluid and spray it at the lines while the truck is idling in park and if the motor revs up a little bit you found your leak.

I dont have a check engine light on.

Today I was told that it could be a switch on the transmittion. It could be getting too much torque or something like that.

Hum.. one possibility is that the torque convertor is not coming out of lockup. This was a problem on the GM products from the mid 80s.. the fix was to replace the "TCC solinoid"

fuel pump bro all the way. I had the same problem on my 95 chevy silverado where it would do the exact same thing
