Ranger not starting

Went to start my truck this morning, and nothing happened. All lights, gauges, and anything electrical worked. Voltage at at battery was 12.8. Didn't even hear clicking from the solenoid. It acts the same way as when you try to start the truck without the clutch pushed in. Based on that, the neutral safety switch could be bad, but how do you check the switch? If not the NSS, what else could be the culprit? Thank in advance for the help.

Battery terminals were good, even cleaned and tried again to no avail. Thanks though.

thanks everyone, well, i think it is the starter actually, because i got under the truck and hit the starter a couple times. Truck started right up, and is working fine for the time being. Already sitting at the shop to get a new starter in the morning. It was just weird I thought that the starter went out without any noise at all, not even a clicking.

Nope whenever the starter goes out it'll make the clicking noise. Atleast it's what it did when mine and my mom's went out.

Therefore it must always happen to everyone? I think not.

Didn't really mean to make it sound like that. But from what I've experienced, when the starter goes out you get the clicking. But I know that that doesn't happen to EVERYBODY.

Normally whenever a starter goes out on me, the solenoid normally clicks and kinda starts acting sluggish before hand. This time no warning or clicking, but a new starter seems to have fixed it.

i haven't had any problems since I changed my starter, everything is working great now (other than a wobble in the front end, but thats a different problem). hopefully a new starter will solve your problem.
