Borla Muffler - What Size / Misc. ?

I've been looking for an exhaust system that will provide performance gains and it seems Borla is the one to go with.

I'll be getting a SI/SO muffler. Now... What size do I want? I was recommended to get 2.5 inlets & 2.5 outlets based on me having the 4.0 engine. What are the benefits of the 2.5 over the 2.25? Any negatives with going to 2.5?

I was looking at purchase from here, does this look good? I picked this one because I was told having offset in/center out would let the muffler sit higher, protecting it from rocks and debris:

What should I do about tips? I know nothing about tips.

Thanks in advance.

you should be fine with the 2.5, its the size aftermarket single outs come in. as far as getting center/offset, the only down side is its not a complete flow through muffler then, but with the rangers i dont think it will make that much of a difference.

3" tip should be fine, doubt it will affect sound or performance at all. if you stick with the stock exit, i would get a stainless weld on tip that is the entire length of that 90* bend so it doesnt look weird with the tip suddenly starting halfway though the pipe

Borla or Magnaflow... they are both the same design.

2.5" sounds perfect to me.

Thanks, thats what I want to hear! Any recommendation on tips, or are tips mainly a look & sound accessory?

Now you are making me second guess borla haha. They aren't the exact same right? I've seen you recommend Borla numerous times yourself.

If I get mandrel piping, is 2.5 still the ideal size considering mandrel allows a better flow?
