Building the 4.0 in the future

I well i ill start by i have bad anti freeze leak and i always find it all over the left side of the block, which make me think its a head gasket. so the means ill be pulling the engine apart in the next few months probly. (and if you think thats not why im leaking anti freeze dont tell me, i got a good exuse to do this now lol) but im really just getting info together right now on what i want to buy and put into it.

im probly gonna pick up some heads for it to have ported and polished before i even start so i can just swap them out. Unless i can find someone that knows exectly what theyre doing and they dont take long to do it on the ones i already have.

i found that comp makes two cams for this engine, whats the difference in the two? what would be better for me to use?

Ill be getting new lifters, rockers, valve springs, push rods and probly a set of headman headers too.

I need advice on exactly what lifters, rockers, valve springs, and push rods ill need though.

If parts can be bought at summit then thats where i want to buy them. Since its a 15 minute drive.

i have never had a big part in building a motor before so im trying to learn alot on this one. I have learned alot of basics from friends and this site. Ill find someone to help me out with the work and all. paying them of course. Im really not gonna be on a small budget since i plan on saving the money up for this after i figure up all me prices. I also have payed very close attention to deathbypsi's engine build thread.

true, i dont think it could pass emissions with a v8 though. hope it will with the stuff i plan on.

sure it would it just woudent be a ranger it would be titled as a custom truck. ive looked into this ive got a 302 siting the the basement waiting to go into a 2wd ranger when ever i get the truck. but nc laws may be different than ga

Most states have no problem with a motor swap as long as the motor is from the same or a newer year.

yeah, but it would just be cheaper and easier for me to do it this way. i dont care about a 5.0 really, dont get me wrong it would be cool but i prefer to build my motor a little bit. since its getting pulled apart any ways so why not throw a couple things on it for more power. im not building a race truck, just want more power than its got.

hello i was going to ask almost the same question but i have the wonderful 97 version , i know that putting heads on the 4.0 will wake them up but which is the best bang for the buck?
or is a port and polish a decent power adder?

I'd stay away from headman headers. From what i've heard jba's are pretty good and headman's dont seem to last. Just my .02 cents

how would they not last? rust isnt a problem for me. or brandon either im sure. im gonna have to listin to him on that one :biggthump i think headmans will be fine. i know jba's are good but why not give another brand a shot? it does help that they arent quit as expensive too.

my friends all buy summit and pacesetters and they all last so im sure ill be good.
