Popcorn in engine compartment?

Soo, my newest problem is a sound in my engine compartment when driving, it sounds like a sort of 'popping' sound in my drivers side engine compartment, like kernels of corn popping. Of course it only happens when I'm driving, so I can't check under the hood to hone in on it (unless I wanna do some stunt work). Latest change to the motor was spark plug change about 1500 miles ago. Any ideas? Could a plug be loose? Also getting a little engine knocking at idle, is that normal? Muchos gracias....

Add more butter!

Have you check any parts of the fuel system? Fuel filter, injectors, ect. Try changing your fuel filter.
