Typically the filter is 1/4 turn past when the gasket meets the block. How would you determine the torque when tightening the oil filter anyway? You using a K&N with a nut on the bottom?
Straight From Ford for an '08 4.0L SOHC:
Oil Filter: 115 in/lbs
Oil Drain: 19 ft/lbs
