When you find out let me know because my mom's 98 4.0 is doing the same thing. I have been researching and it could be a bunch of things.

Get yourself some tb, maf, carb, ect. cleaner and spray all around the manifold, intake, etc. Give it a good soaking. If you have a leak you`ll hear the engine idle hesitate and rev itself back up. I had a lean code in banks 1 and 2 and it was a vac leak.

Ok, that is what I was thinking. I was just gonna spray some carb cleaner on the lines and see what happens.

There are many variables that will cause lean codes. Don't just throw parts at it, try to determine the cause. Another possibility along with what everyone else said is O2 sensors. They will cause lean codes.

The O2's would be the first thing i would check.

It is probably an O2 sensor and not the MAF because a dirty MAF would cause both banks to be lean, not one bank.
