Check Engine Light?!

Ok... So I looked under the hood.... and it is till there..

So I went to autozone and they told me code but I did not write it down... However, I do remember that the code was "Too Lean on Bank 1"

So my question is this...

Injector problem? or O2 sensor?

Can anyone help?

make sure you have the code right and go to a ford dealer and they should be able to tell you what it means.

Too lean could be a fuel problem. Bad fuel, dirty injector, fuel filter etc. Try to get the code number and I can at least give you probable causes.

usually when a too lean code is thrown its a vacuum leak.. but i would try replacing the fuel filter first. ford 4.0l engines are known to have vacuum leak problems at the intake plenum gaskets. they are just rubber and when they get some mileage on them they harden, and air shoots right past them. that will definitely screw with your a/f mixture

Well, the light came on again... So I'll get the code and post it. The power ranger has over 100,000 miles so I am guessing that it could be a gasket. I tried the paper over the tail pipe trick and it sucked it back.... All most took the thing out of my hand... I do not think that this has anything to do with the code, but????

Thanks

1998 Ranger I have the same problem with mine

There is a line from the PCV that goes into the air intake, see if it's connected. Its about 6 inches away from the air filter box towards the engine. If that checks out and everything is tight, bet on the intake gaskets.

If it's only lean in bank 1 it's either an injector, air leak on that side only, O2 sensor and so forth.

Last time that code came up here, it was an injector problem of some sort. But it's also been leaks also.

This is all presuming you have a V6 since you posted NO info about your engine configuration and the codes can suggest different things. For instance, there is no bank 2 on a 4 banger.
