What kind of gas do you run?

Hey guys, I thought this might be interesting to talk about. Saturday I filled up with Mobil midgrade (89 octane) (only reason was it was the same price as reg) gas and believe it or not, my truck idles better, I mean it wasn't bad before but it seems to be smoother. I usually Run BP, Amaco, or Mobil regular unleaded (87 octane). Is this all in my head? My GF said she could tell a difference too!

So let me know what you guys/gals run and if I am crazy or not.....

EDIT: FYI, I do not have a chip or a computer reprogram.

Whatevers Cheapest

Except for Two Vehicles, My Buick and my Cadillac.

The Cadillac gets Premium (it requires from the factory 89+ octane) without Ethanol, I have to Drive about thirty miles to get gas for it too.

My Buick has been Chipped, and needs 90+ octane. I really don't care because since the tune it gets near 30 MPG, although it runs like crap in the cold.

Everything else is what's cheapest. Usually BP as there is a BP about a mile from my house.

The BP fuels here in Michigan don't have ethanol, but then again they are Amaco fuels really, it isn't that way everywhere?

all fuels in New Jersey contain ethanol - same for most other 'smog' states
and come on Brit Ranger - all the stations pump for you in Joisey

- LIL BLUE runs on regular and performs quite well

In minnesota, all 87 octane pumps contain 10% Ethanol. They let gas stations put up pumps that offer Premium without ethanol, But usually they have a warning that says something like

"Ethanol free
only For use in:
Antique and Classic automobiles
Boats
ATV's
Snowmobiles etc. etc."

But I fill up with whatever vehicle I have and they have never stopped me.

In South Dakota it is the opposite, Their 87 Octane, has no ethanol, and the mid grade does. They subsidize the mid grade price to be less than the 87 Oct. Only a couple cents though. Premium is also Ethanol Free. One more reason for me to want to move to South Dakota! The beauty of a state without such a huge Corn growers Lobby! and MN wonders why business's are leaving by the dozens to go to Sioux Falls.

Thats weird, so you are actually not supposed to put it in your vehicle in Minnesota? Unless its a classic or whatever, as you mentioned? Wow, here most people see gas with ethanol at our cheaper gas stations, my old man actually makes it a point to make fun of my uncle for buying cheap gas with ethanol (from speedway or something)

Nope, I think you misunderstood, You can't put Ethanol free (meaning no Ethanol) gas in you cars unless it is a Classic, boat, ATV etc. Now Ive fill up every vehicle I can with Ethanol Free gas when I can. I have never been stopped. I filled up my Explorer this morning with it and no one stopped me.

It's Welfare for Farmers. OUr State Government tries to buy the farm vote with these mandates. It's the reason we're the leading state in E85, and our Republican Governor, is raising the cost of living even more with even more mandates on Ethanol and Renewable energy. We are building wind farms like you wouldn't believe, It is raising the cost of energy and destroying our wildlife. I use to hunt in SW MN, but all the land has been plowed over to put up these eye sores, of wind farms, and to grow corn to try and meet our projected needs. It is Futile, and a waste of public dollars, but hey! We feel Good about it! and feelings are more important than reality!

Doesn't matter, that these wind farms Cost a fortune, Work at 30% efficiency and don't work at all when the wind isn't blowing. No. It makes us feel good! If they really wanted safe for the enviroment energy they'd take the handcuffs off of Xcel and let them build Nuke Plants. Only form of energy that is self contained.

^^^^ Hey John, I was with you from the get go, I worded it weird, but I understood what you meant. That is really stupid IMO, no offense to you or your home state. Mandating what gas can go in what vehicle (other than gas/diesel) is just weird.... I wonder if other states are like that as well? Obviously that is not the case in Michigan....

Hey bad mouth my state as much as you want. I was Born here, But I won't Die here. We are such Socialist Scandinavians in this state it isn't even funny. In my Short 25 Years, I've seen the Beauty of MN's wildlife Get raped and ravage by the same people who think they are saving it. In a state of Hunters our DNR is headed by a non Hunter. They'll turn the north shore into a Fire hazard before they'll let loggers in and remove blown down trees, all while spending millions of my dollars just to pat themselves on the backs for Ruining habitat and endangering Lives and livelyhoods. I haven't bought a Fishing or a Hunting lisence in MN in 8 Years, and I continue to Pay through the nose to Fish and hunt in other states.

I ran 93 (premium) in my truck because it had the bamachips; I run that as well in my GTI because it's turbocharged. Before the bamachips, I ran 87 (regular).

I normally run 87 but from time to time I run 91 (I have no mods on the truck) . With 91 it seems to run better and pull alot harder.
