dumped or before the rear tire???

Basically, I have a Flowmaster 40 si/do sitting in my room right now and I want some opinions from you guys: dump it or have it exit before the rear tire?

I like the idea of dumping it because I wont need to spend money on tips, seeing as they wont be seen but I don't know how much knows it will create in the cab - a little is no problem but I don't want it to overwhelm my cab since I don't have a GREAT system (just Polks all around and aftermarket HU)

And I like the way it looks exiting before the rear tire but then I'd have to spend money on tips. The plus to this is I think it would lessen the noise in the cab (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I wanna get this baby on there as soon as possible but I need to figure out if I need to get some tips or not. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Oh yeah, I don't know how to make a poll but I would have made it one if I knew how haha

I have it dumped just before the rear axle (right after the muffler). For offroading, I'm concerned about crushing it with it ahead of the wheel. But often folks do that anyway with no problems.

I think that the "before the wheel" deal would be sweet.

Oh, forgot to comment: it's really not any noisier inside unless you have a REALLY loud exhaust. I'm using a Flowmaster "classic" 40, but with the cat an all it's not really loud.

since you're using a 40 series si/do it'll drone a bit, and sometimes it messes with my bass and i have to crank it up more to hear it, but thats only at certain speeds, and mostly with the windows down. Anyways good luck with your choice, i think having dumped will produce a different sound than the "lightning style" which ive heard and sounded quiet to me compared to my setup, but it was a 4.0L.

I would have it come out in front of the rear tire. Here is an idea though: Put the muffler on and leave it like that for a while if you like it leave it, if it s to loud add the pipe to make it come out the side.

yeah.. i like your idea mike. the only thing is, i'm not doing it myself so i'd would really like to get it right the first time haha. i like the look of the "lightning style" exhaust but i think i'm leaning toward the dumped options for the sound and it should cost less too.

i'm not really worried about hitting it while off roading. and i definitely wouldn't want to lose power but my main concern is the sound. i don't want to pay the extra cash and have it be quieter ya know? isn't a super 40 louder than just the 40 series?
