I Have used Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers on many different cars. I have a Mazda MX6 with a v6 and it sounds perfect. I am new to the 4.0 in the truck. If there is any resinators after the cat just have that taken off and go with a Larger diameter pipe 2.5" into a 2.5 Super Turbo with an Offset / Offset inlet and outlet. With the large 4.0 V6 it would probably give you some increase in power. Flows are not packed and therefore drone like hell in everything. They may sound cool for awhile but will get old fast if you use your truck for a daily. I love these mufflers. They sound really good on my Mustang GT too. DEEP! I get compliments all the time.

In my Experience.

What I have learned over the years is that when you buy the Catbacks you get nice sound mandrel bent piping and they cost like 300.00-600.00. Power is not much and not worth it IMO. If you want to go with good bang for the buck and for nice sound and most likely the same amount of hp gains go with larger diameter tubing and have a local shop fashion do a new catback. Use the 2.5" Super Turbo for about 55.00 with that and a nice tip and you are in business. The biggest bang for your buck is to go catless but you your state laws may prohibit this or unless you have a friend that does inspections. You will get a Check engine light but most of the time it doesn't effect vehicle performance. There are dumby plugs that trick the computer to turn it off. Did this on a 97 & 2000 Stang GT and my old MX6 V6 an it is a huge boost in power.

IMHO… I do not believe that the Cat Back Systems do anything except increase the noise levels.
If you add headers, and a complete new exhaust system AND increase the air intake, add a new chip and get the whole thing tuned then you will get something out of the truck in the way of a performance increase, by themselves each of the above changes will be almost useless except for the chip.
Save up and get all of the parts ready, then put them all in at once and feel the burn.

I'm not looking for power increases due to the fact I'm governed at 90mph anyway I just some throughtness added to the sound

I agree sound makes a truck a truck. It kills me that a neighbor has an 08 Vette and it sounds like a Honda Accord. Man if you have a performance car it should sound like one. You do however get slight gains in power with catbacks. 6 banger maybe 3hp at best but power never the less.
Going catless on 97 Mustang GT was like WTF! From a launch with and Auto it would turn the tires maybe 15 ft? After an Off Road H-Pipe through Stock mufflers, which sounded really good, it would just roast the tires almost all the way through first gear. Cost me 50.00 used and installed it myself. That is good bang for the buck.
