SCT Programmer & Warranty

SCT Programmer & Warranty
Does anybody actually know what aspects or codes can leave a footprint if the vehicle is returned to stock before the vehicle goes in to the dealer? I don't plan to mess around with things too much. I want the tuner for the performance and hopefully fuel economy gains. I won't be changing the top speed limiter, idle speed, spark advance etc. I just want to readjust for my larger tires and get some performance.
From what I understand through talking to dealers, and professionals it can still leave a footprint even when returned to stock. Is it only visible if they are looking for it?
Does anyone have a true estimate or raw data of the benefits of the SCT X3 on a 2010 SOHC 4.0L? I realize there are a bunch of threads all ready but I have read through way more than I can count.

Yes I realize that but how hard is it to find. I talked to the mechanic where the truck was bought from and he said that there may be no actual problem at all with the truck if it has the tuner on it when it goes in but if they pick up what he called a ghost code you might be screwed. It might not be a problem but if the scanner doesn't know what that code is and they automatically upload the codes/work/whatever to the Ford network that night and Ford sees it they will probably void your warranty.

I can't say for sure how it works, but I'm sure if you do a quick search you will find the information you are looking for since this isn't a Ranger specific question. All I know is that it will show up in some sort of log or code. If you are that worried about it then I wouldn't risk it. Tuners on a stock truck or truck with a few minor bolt-on's don't see any fantastic gains anyway. They are most useful for tire and gear changes.

I realize it won't be fantastic. If I wanted fantastic I would have saved for years for a Super Duty. I do want to recalibrate for my tires to get my speedo and fuel economy numbers back to what they should be. I've tried asking some of these questions to professors I've had but they either give you an answer to cover their *** or plain just don't know.

Found some info. you might find useful: Most Common Pre-Sales Questions - Will your tuner void my dealer warranty?
I'm sure some of it carries over to a Ranger. If I were you I'd go down to your local dealer and find a technician and ask. I'm sure they will tell you how they are detectable and if they care. Some dealer's don't care and others do.

I've said it before...but: Sometimes you gotta pay to play!
I don't expect Ford to cover anything on warranty if something I did caused the issue. I can't stand people that try to "hide" things they did to a vehicle to try to get it covered, that isn't what the warranty is for. Man up, and know that sometimes in life you have to take care of your own issues!
Pay to play.....should be the #1 rule of vehicle modifications!
