Droning Hum from engine Above 75MPH
Hello all,
I have a 2004 4.0 V6 XLT 4x4 with 153k miles on it, and have noticed a wobble/droning hum come from the engine when driving at 75mph or higher. Has anyone experience this with this engine? Is this just the normal operating process with it? Or should I startlooking into this more deeply? There's no vibration or shaking in the cabin or steering wheel. Any help would be appreciated. |
Sounds more like tire / front suspension issues.

As already mentioned, it "sounds" tire and or suspension problems. You could also have a hub assembly going bad. Do you have any popping, clunking, squeaking sounds while turning or going over rough roads? |

When you used the word 'hum' my thoughts went directly to the possibly just a section of plastic bumper/shroud flattering in the wind. Also your mention that it only occurs after a certain speed, loose parts such as I mentioned, often only flutter with a certain amount of airflow.
it may simply be a section of the wheel well liner since you mentioned front end work just prior to the fluttering occuing. |
you idint mention the new tires in your first post. I will bet money that its the new tread design.

@Disco2026 The above post from Jim could very well be the issue or part of the issue. Like he said, you didn't mention those new tires in your original post
