Droning Hum from engine Above 75MPH

Hello all,

I have a 2004 4.0 V6 XLT 4x4 with 153k miles on it, and have noticed a wobble/droning hum come from the engine when driving at 75mph or higher. Has anyone experience this with this engine? Is this just the normal operating process with it? Or should I startlooking into this more deeply? There's no vibration or shaking in the cabin or steering wheel. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds more like tire / front suspension issues.

As already mentioned, it "sounds" tire and or suspension problems. You could also have a hub assembly going bad. Do you have any popping, clunking, squeaking sounds while turning or going over rough roads?

Hey thanks for the reply. I have brand new tires, and just replaced all four shocks + everything except the actual steering knuckles and hub assembly in regards to steering and suspension. But no clunking or squeaking when turning or hitting rough spots. That being said, it sounds like the the hub assembly sounds like a great place to start. I appreciate the guidance

When you used the word 'hum' my thoughts went directly to the possibly just a section of plastic bumper/shroud flattering in the wind. Also your mention that it only occurs after a certain speed, loose parts such as I mentioned, often only flutter with a certain amount of airflow.
it may simply be a section of the wheel well liner since you mentioned front end work just prior to the fluttering occuing.

you idint mention the new tires in your first post. I will bet money that its the new tread design.

@Disco2026 The above post from Jim could very well be the issue or part of the issue. Like he said, you didn't mention those new tires in your original post
