4.0 sohc true dual exhaust

has anyone ever done a true dual exhaust setup on a 4.0 ranger? Im talking about true dual pipe setup from the headers with a X or H pipe not a Y pipe setup. Im thinking about getting my exhaust re-done from my JBA headers back and my exhaust shop said they could do it. With no cats they quoted me $400 with my new tips and $700 if i wanted to put on high flow cats.

400 is cheap id do that in a heartbeat. the shop i go to here wants 475 to do another cat back with dual 3" tips at 45* angles -_______-

I have my final cat deleted but still have the others so i don't get a stupid CEL. Not sure if MIL eliminators from a mustang would work on our trucks or not

thats for piping from my headers to where my muffler is now, an x/h pipe, and new tips. I got my tuner to clear the CELs haha..

im running a mustang mil eliminator on my ranger, had the third cat deleted when I had my exhaust done. it runs a little bit rich but it works I haven't had the cel come back on, if you have an sct tuner you can delete the rear o2 sensors and not have to worry about it either.

It should sound pretty good. Mine was similar. I would run high flow cats and make sure they are putting the o2 sensors back in!

Wouldn't hurt....

Think you're going to go through with it?

I've started researching a setup like this, but can't find much when it comes to keeping everything legit with emission requirements.

If you do it - take plenty of pictures & get the details!

Nice!

Lucky you on the emissions front.

I'd still be interested in the details of your setup. Are you going to use any high flow cats or anything?

Do you have any details of your setup (in an old thread by chance)?

I guess a person would just need one high-flow catalytic converters to be installed per side in order to pass emissions (??) - I hate trying to figure out emission crap. lol

dont think ive ever seen a ranger true dualed. and using an H/X pipe isnt a "true" dual. simply dual exhaust.

true dual is when they are truly two pipes. no crossover invovled.
