I have a 1994 Ford ranger 4.0 that I bought nonrunning. I’ve had it started a few times off of starting fluid. It’s not getting fuel. Just found this plug and when I jump it, I can hear the fuel kick on. Any help?
The computer will ground the fuel pump relay(via that same slot, its a pass thru) but only for 2 seconds with key on, its a safety thing
But you can ground it and fuel pump relay should click closed and fuel pump should come on full time IF key was on
You can see if engine will start with this jumper in place, won't hurt anything
Gas in a tank only lasted 5 to 6 month, then its no longer "Fuel", good weed killer but no longer "fuel"
In a 1994 you can also use those connectors to get any codes using the CEL(check engine light) in the cab
You need a jumper wire, paper clip works as well
Key OFF
Put a jumper between SIG-RTN slot and Self Test IN(the separate connector)
Have a pencil and paper ready, and go to cab
Turn the key on and CEL should start to flash, a few short flashes as computer boots up, if CEL stays on then you are not in "test" mode, check jumper
Then it will start to flash 3 digit codes(1994)
