Engine dies when in reverse, but only at running temp

Hello, I have an 2002 4.0lv6 just recently the engine will die if I put the truck in reverse, but this only happens when the truck is at running temperature. Forward no issues. It is fine putting it into reverse, but when I let off the brake the engine dies. Any ideas on what I should check?

Welcome to the forum

Reads like computer is not seeing "in gear" from DTR sensor
Try shifting in to Neutral first and then into Reverse and see if it still stalls

When you shift an automatic "into gear" the computer will bump up the idle RPMs by 50-100rpms same as when you turn on AC
Its responding to the extra engine LOAD when "in gear"

Idle is lower when engine is warmed up, when cold computer is in Choke Mode so higher idle, so you may not notice the bump in RPMs when in gear, or the lack of it

See if you detect the bump up when shifting to Drive, or with AC on
