Engine noise at start-up 4.0L

Hey guys, I've got a question for you all.

Does anybody else have a noise issue on the 4.0 engine at start up, it sounds like if the engine has no oil on top of the cams, it sounds like dry start up.

My truck makes this noise every day, it will always do it in the morning or during any cold start? The oil level is fine, right there in the crosshatched indicator in the dipstick.

It will do it for like 2-3 seconds, then it goes away, I'm using the correct oil, 10-30W multigrade.

I've had several Ranger with the 4.0 before, but none with this issue.

I'm afraid it will damage or wear out the cams and chains and all that stuff, what do you guys recommend?

The older 4.0s were common for timing chain issues but I thought it was fixed before '04. Could you post up a video of the noise?

Use a ford oil oil filter

If the filter don't solve the problem . I would think the oil pump ck vlv is bad . Roc

Mine has started making almost a screeching sound in the morning at cold start up but it does not do it every morning. It does not even last 1 second though. I originally thought it was the timing chain tensioners and installed new ones but it did not eliminate the sound.

If that was directed to me, it could be the starter drive going bad. Although, I think it would do it also when the engine is warmed up. The starter makes a normal sound when cranking.
