Sure. And a check engine light. Don't they do emissions in NC? Guess not.

Edit: Or you can do like it's fashionable to do now: take out SOMEONE ELSE'S to buy a new exhaust, lol...

Keep you cats on. You will just run into problems and loose power.

They do where I live. Varies by county.

on the newer engines, they need backpressure. also, if you have an oxygen sensor behind your cats...not a good idea, b/c its just goin to cause prob after prob. also, if you use a diagnostics test after you take them off, you wont get a true reading. i also want to throw in that these cat-delete sensors and programs, mostly DONT WORK, so dont waste your money

Just make sure you finish. I'd hate to see you cut just a couple of the pipes and walk away from the job.

FYI- its looking like $45 - $110 per cat based on some info i got on another forum.

Sigh..... Emissions inspections or safety inspections dont matter. A car in NC will technicaly fail inspection without cats during the visual part of the safety inspection prior to the Emissions part of the inspection. Additionally the emissions testing machine can tell if you took them off by the consentrations of the exhaust gasses.

One more note. It is against federal laws to remove any emissions controlls device, which a cat would fall under, reguardless of state, county envolvement in the Federal mandated emissions inspection program. So you could still get a ticket. I know I did when I lived in Ohio while driving a 78 Monte with an Olds 350 rocket with no cat on it. I got a speeding ticket and he looked under the car. I dont know why he did but I got a fixit ticket and he scraped off my sticker. This was way back in 87 or 88. I dont remember when. And there was no emissions inspection at the time.

Leave it be, there is no performance benifits and you will actually be in violations of state, local and federal laws.

And I doubt you will get anything substancial for them anyway. There is money there but not much if any at all to a salvage yard.
