From what I understand the x4 tuner can completely turn off your egr without taking it out. Now that you have taken it out and tricked the ecu with your egr mod I would undo your mod or just completely remove egr components so you get a cel. Then turn off egr with the x4. From what I hear if this is done correctly the difference is huge especially with the 93 tune...

After a certain time and due to government regulations, that option in the X4 was written out. My version doesnt hav it. I know a guy that could give me the tune for the x4. But dunno if i want or need it 🤷‍♂️

then, what about forscan. can it be used to tell the computer to disable components involved in making the recirculation work. i have forscan with the permanent license.

I dunno how i missed this all the times i plugged it in, but for the longest time, i couldnt 'find' the "off/on" option for exhaust gas recirculation in the X4 menu. but i watched this
plugged it in and looked. it is right there in the menu, just like he shows. having an on and off option. its wierd that its there, cos im sure i had connected it to the internet to download changes. i thot this whole time it got written out by an update id done.

i havent made any changes yet per the X4, but i will soon. and then i will remove the hoses and unplug things.

I just read this post... if you don't mind, Why are you doing this again ?

I read in the first post that you just want to do it, I'm thinking there is always a reason for doing something.

What about inspections in your state ?

scrambler, inspections are per cities. where i live, there is no inspections. so long as i stay here, i dont hafta worry about 'passing' anything.

and like 2011 supercab just wrote, the reason more or less is partially weight reduction; however minimal that may be. and i am quite **** retentive about removing or doing away with things i either think dont help me, or that i will never use.

most of the recent modifications are basically 'assists'. either assisting the driver, or assisting the government in pollution control. i dont need assistance in using brakes, and most of this extra hardware for pollution control can be done wholly away with and still there be control in avoiding pollution. i also found that removing entirely the evaporation system, my milage improved greatly. going from 300 miles per full tank, to 400 miles per full tank of gasoline.

i have found that in spite of setting it to off in the X4, removing the sensors and hoses still causes the malfucntion indicator to come on. ive left it in the "Off" state, but have reinstalled the hoses and sensors. so far, the light stays off. i dont know yet if i wanna pay for a specific tune to remove the remaining hardware

Ok so you got almost 8or 9 mpg increase, impressive. I would never have thought that much !

Good Luck on your endeavor, It must be a bear changing the computer.

well yes, and from what ive heard/read with the vapor system left intact, the engine is doing more work pulling vapor from the cannister back into the intake for re use. without all that the engine is at 'full' power.

the changing of the computer really isnt much. so long as you have a scanner and proper tunes, its really quite simple. even using FORScan really helps
