Exhaust pipe 2.25" vs. 2.5"
I have a 1997 Ranger 4.0L and I am thinking about redoing my exhaust from the y-pipe back. I want to replace the two stock cats for a single magnaflow and I am not sure if I should go with a 2.25" or a 2.5" pipe for the entire exhaust. I currently have a flowmaster cat-back with a 2.25" pipe, but I know that the cats have a 2.5" pipe. I am considering replacing the cat-back with a 2.5" and dumping it after the muffler. What do you guys suggest 2.25" or 2.5"?

I am going to do 2.5 on mine. Should open it up a little more to let the engine breath better. Should also make it a tad louder.

thats what I did with mine. 2.5" from the cat to the muffler, then dumped it after the muffler

^ same here and i love it. it does open it up on the top end, but there is a slight loss down low.

mine is 2.5 catback in stock form...works and sounds awesome on low and top end...a little quiet in midrange though...
