Explorer sport trac non interference or not

Hi guys I had a question to ask.
I have a 2003 ford explorer sport trac 4.0 my timing chain broke on the top in the front. My question is is this engine a non-interference engine or is it?
I have cranked the engine over via starter and idk if it can cause valve damage or not.

It is for sure an interference engine, the 4.0l SOHC, the 4.0l OHV is not, which is why there was some confusion

But that being said, the over lap between pistons and valve is not that much, if a chain actually broke then valves are probably OK, as the cams "at rest" position doesn't have any valves all the way open
And cranking the engine wouldn't matter, and valve strikes would have happened as the chain broke

But best to have a look down the spark plug holes with a camera for this: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...ngs-jpg.77924/

Not much of a strike but would bend the valve

Thanks for the insite I'll definitely have to look into that see if I can see anything down in the hole. I also noticed the timing chain broke the top of the valve cover and when I tried cranking it over the cam lobe wouldn't move.

Yes, if a chain broke then that cam shaft wouldn't move when cranking, there is just the one chain for each head/cam shaft
