fan rours when ac is on

my fan just started rouring when the ac is on and it lugs the motor down pretty bad but its fine when the ac is off could this be a bad fan clutch??

sounds like it... my blazer did that and it was the fan clutch

Wonder if that's the case with mine.. Could explain overheating too.. How hard is it to replace?

If the fan clutch is only engaging with the A/C on , I would be looking for an over heating problem. The clutch on the fan works by sensing the air temperature coming from the radiator.If the temp rises to a certain point the clutch engages. The A/C compressor puts quite a load on the engine making it work harder/hotter.
If you do a lot of offroading , or drive down dusty roads frequently , I would suggest cleaning your radiator fins from the back side forward with a hard stream from a garden hose.

ken is right on with his diag, but fan clutches have been known to go bad.

skot i have all the special tools to change one if you need help.

I'll let you know Mark. I'm debating if I want to invest the time and money and patience into it, or if I'd rather just suffer with the wonderfully humid heat we get.. Thanks!

i usley don;t use the ac much but its been like 98 here for the past month ill see if i can;t clean it the truck dosent overhead never has sence i got the truck in 04
