Flywheel Orientation

I'm putting on a new flywheel. (4.0L SOHC) I don't see any distinguishing marks, and all the holes appear to be evenly spaced. Is there an proper orientation, or do I just bolt it on in any orientation?

Whats with what's stamped into the pressure plate? "Before install see shop manual clutch sec 08"?? What do I need to do?

normally the holes in a flywheel look symmetrical, but if its on wrong it will NOT bolt up. i cant say that for sure about your situation but i know every time i've done them before (1/2 ton chevys and fords) the holes were ever so slightly shifted and you dont know until you go to bolt it up.

There should be an alignment hole on it.

Can you describe this? I can tell you there was 8 perfectly symmetrical holes on my new flywheel and that is it. Doesn't it makes sense for the 4.0L the have a neutrally balanced flywheel, since it has an external balancer mounted to the front of the crankshaft?

why are you replacing it? if its because your putting in a new clutch just get the flywheel machined
