yes they did make the 5spd auto. cuz thats what i have. it probably has a bit to do with my foot. but i haven't changed that much in driving habits. I'm starting to wonder. my last tank i got 15mpg and that was when i filled it till gas was sitting in the filler neck but every tank has been around 14 to 15 and its been that way for over a month

I would just recommend looking into some things.. Filters.. Fuel - Air. Maybe plugs and wires.. Run some cleaners through the engine. Im sure there are better people to give advice on here cause that just seems wrong. I would post a thread regarding it maybe you will find something.

I know this is a 4.0 forum. I'm amazed at the mileage you guys are getting. What with the big tires and low gear ratios most of you run. The best I've ever done with my automatic, extended cab, 3.0 is only 22.66. That was 365 miles on 16.1 gals. But that was almost all highway with the cruise set at about 62-63. (55 mph speed limit) My worst was the last tank at 13.99. All street with the A/C on full all the time. Of course the fact that the gas has been in the tank since last April might have had something to do with that also. That was 240 miles on 17.159 gals. I usually get 15-16 around town.

I drive with the AC all summer, and go 65mph on the highways. This last tank I was fighting a headwind for 60 miles, that killed that tank...down to 18mpg.

me and my buddys best with the smaller tank and 4.0l is about 240-250 miles to a tank

I am surprised the lift and 33's didnt really take anything away in the mpg department. I still get about the same as before the lift.

I have come to notice alot of 3.0's which is 1 liter less than mine get close to the same gas mileage.

And i think 31's and 4:10's is a good setup for fuel econ.

so i think its the 33's doin it, well i know it is. but i hauled two dirt bikes in the bed of the truck and got the same maybe a little less. its just the city driving thats doing it because of all the stop and go. just give me long 45 mph roads and i'll get over 15

That seems about right. I also have pretty much the same truck as you and just got 240 miles on my last tank. I thought this was pretty low. Probably about 85% city 15 highway.

With 3.55 gears and my 4.0 I got a best 23.7 (cruise set at 90km/h), and I'm stock except for 30" tires. But I have done everything except for plugs and wires, so all my filters are sparkling clean.

I can very easily get that down to 12 or 13 if I let my g/f drive it, she likes the 4.0 apparently she likes to hear the "grunt" sound when it kicks down a gear and it starts screaming at 4000 rpm.

I usually get between 18 mpg and mid 19's. I drive about 120 miles round trip to school. 20 or a little more is city. Mostly stop signs. When I'm on the highway I run about 70-75 mph.

I've got a 4.0 auto extended cab flareside with 4.10s and 265/75(i think) tires.

I've got the smaller tank in my regular cab 4.0 4wd and highest i've gotten was 300.6 miles. Nowadays I don't let it get anywhere near the E but I get 20mpg for everyday driving. Getting off the subject a little bit....I was just trying to build an 09 Ranger on Ford and you can't get a 4wd in regular cab form anymore. Glad I got mine when I did.

18 isnt bad really. . I do alot of highway or non-stop driving 40 - 65 mph for work and some city driving.

I think its all in how you drive it and what your riding on.. I wont go 33 cause i am afraid of mpg.
