fuel filter is stuck

trying to change it out, got the clips off, the tubes wont pull off, i dont wanna pull REAL hard though...any help

there are clamps inside the fuel lines too....

hard to explain.....get a hose clamp and put it around the fuel line....then find the clamps on the inside and tighten it around them. sry its hard to say over the net

so get a small hose clamp, tighten around the clamp inside the line to release it, then presto???

i had the same problem with mine. dont forget to pull the fuel pump relay and start the truck till the engine dies. i didnt do this at forst and i couldnt get the lines off. but after i relieved the preasure they came off easier. oh and you do need a fuel line disconnect tool it will make it a little easier

Fuel pump relay? Is that a fuse or a hose i pull off...Will that trip the fuel switch i have to reset?

Does your fuel filter lines have colours on them (right at the filter). On my 01, the two hoses at the rear of the filter have a green and orange band around them and the one to wards the front had a grey band. You just push these bands down with your thumb and pull....no tools needed. There are fuel line removal tools (as shown above), but it seems Ford made some years to need the tool and others that didn't.

yeah i just bught that tool at autozone and a pcv valve, so im gonna go replace them....thanks everyone for the help

well i got everything done, that tool is the trick..Though i coulda prevented a face full of gas, if i ran the gas outa the lines after pulling the hose of the fuel pump....But o well lessoned learned just hope itll come outa my shirt..lol

how long after you drove the truck did you wait to take the filter off? youre supposed to let it sit for an hour or more to get rid of all the pressure

oh really? well i think 15 minutes or so, wasnt long after i got home this morn...Oh well everything is ok now, worst of all it was brown gas too, all over my shoulder and arms...ha ha
