Generic electric code and evap system test?

Hey everyone,

Truck running beeeeyootifully...

but...

I have a "generic electronic module code" as P0500 on my BlueDriver reader.

My speedometer works fine, so could it still be just an error in the sensor that just needs replacing?

Also, my "smog check" function says I have an evap system hasn't completed this test.

I've driven it for a good 100 miles already.

Would it pass smog even with the evap system test incomplete?

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx guys

Here is the tests that have to be done if system is "not ready": Ford Motor Company Driving Cycle

EVAP takes the longest to "get ready"

P0500 means computer is not seeing speed pulse as far as I know but................

Read this: https://www.autocodes.com/uploads/ford/01-21-13.pdf

Thats a new one on me, lol, sticky key cylinder and P0500 1998-2002 Rangers

2001 and up Rangers use the OSS(output shaft speed) sensor on the transmission or transfer case for computer, speedo and cruise, also transmission shifting
The OSS connects directly to the computer
Computer converts the OSS signal to 8,000PPM signal for the speedometer and Cruise, then sends it out to both
So having P0500 and a working speedometer in a 2001 and up Ranger is an odd one

150 miles and counting. This thing is slooooow to get ready. Kinda like my ex

That page is the exact one I went to. So many steps, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Maybe checking connections/changing the evap can and/or solenoid if it doesn't finally wake up? The weekend is soooo far away :(

Weird. I'm wondering if what I say later may have something to do with that.

I do have a new key cylinder and door lock set. I'll check the cylinder to see if it has that little bugger.

Interesting...

A refresher on my transmission...

It doesn't have much of a first and has little to no reverse; very alike in their function. I have to start in second with the OD disengaged (OD light on), get going until 30-40 mph, then shift to D to get 3 and 4th gear (although it feels like "2" has 2nd and 3rd when I take off, but hey), bring it to 60+mph then hit the OD button to engage again (OD light off meow) to cruise in 5th.

I haven't installed the JY special trans yet, but could that speed sensor fail and mess with shifting? If so, I have an "unused" 5R55E 2wd for sale

I have full speedo, albeit uncalibrated currently for 31" tires, so 70 is actually 75

Tach syncs up with the readings I have on my BlueDriver.

Cruise control works soooooo nice (compared to the Honda I've been sporting in my truck's place), and it all seems fully functional sans that pending trouble code and evap test incomplete.

My Hi beams work

Thanks so much for your help

Oh yeah...I'll leave my key in the ignition and open the door to see if the chime goes off at lunchtime.
