header leaks
anyone know how to solve header leak between header and exhaust pipe? oem donut gasket doesn't fit and have tried 2 types of exhaust sealant- no luck! am losing patience fast! lol thinking of sending in but worried looking at $$$ for them to fix it

Weld it up, problem solved.

Percy's High Performance
they fixed all of my leaks best gaskets ive had yet |
i think welding my choice left...yes have already tried percys gaskets and bolts....still leaks- i think mainly at the collector though- can't use oem donut gaskets so there is nothing there..
|
Thats cause the OEM gasket is still there... Gotta pound, chip, and grind it off till you get a clean surface again. I would pull the manifolds and get them up on a bench and do some work untill the new gaskets fit.

uhh...no oem gasket there..new header install and the cylinder head surface was wirewheeled clean- ford uses stainless steel exhaust gaskets so not that much residue to clean up.oem collector doesn't fit the headers ( different size)..which is why i think it leaks there...made appt mon to try and have it fixed- imo only fix is to weld it or try and match up a donut gasket to the headers i have that do fit

mistake i won't make again.. worth the extra $$ for jba

More often than not this is just life with headers, and its worse with low end headers. Thats why I only recommend them for a true performance vehicle or if its the only thing that will fit.
