schwimming

I know theres a few folks who have done this before.. but I none of the threads say how they got the rigs running again...

So basically I was fording the river and lost all my oxen...

No I went wheelin today, did some pretty intense stuff, but on the way home I had to go pull my buddies f150 out of a mud hole, had to go through this deep puddle to get there. made it through, then on the way back...

I was about halfway through and then the truck just died. Stalled kinda like when your learning to drive a clutch and roll down hill dump the clutch and it dies.. kinda like that. It didn't jump or anything just died. Everything lights up inside, when you turn the key and try and start it.. it goes click-clunk, again, thats click-clunk, click first.. then nanoseconds later it clunks. Umm.. what else. Oh the air filter was soaked. Im assuming it sucked up water.. but I don't know what to do about it..

Do I drain and replace the oil? spark plugs? air filter? just let it sit. its out of the water on dry land now, just sitting.

the water was over my tires(32s) on the passenger side and just at the bottom of my door on the driver. filled up my passenger inside with water. not much, bout inch maybe two..

Basically in laymans terms.. what happened and what do I do about it??

ps.. I also blew up an avm hub today, and got some pretty gnarly trail damage.. I had to use a stump as a pivot point.. I also have no pictures.. lame I know.

edit.. guess my sig on this site doesn't say..
its a 98 4.0 5spd 4x4

i took out the spark plugs on each side then cranked to try and get some of the water out and put them back in (i'd probably leave the air filter off to try and crank) then try and crank.... if goes click - clunk again, you're most likely looking at a new engine (~$2600.. i know from experience) or you could try and let it dry out for a day or 2 and see if that helps..... good luck

i pulled the spark plugs.. cranked on 'er a few times, shot some water out.

air filter change.
new spark plugs.
she started right up. I was impressed. there was a lot of water in there.
drove it home. made it up to 75, no shakes shimmys rattles pings anything. rang golden.
