HELP!!! CAN'T GET ENGINE SEPARATED FROM TRANS??
Hello, I have a 1994 Ford Ranger, 4.0L OHV, Automatic, 4WD, Vin code X
Truck recently overheated, Coolant problems (all gummed up) Barely runs, blows white smoke cloud, Milky Oil. Def, blown head gasket, or warped Manifold, worse case cracked block. Anyway, decided to replace Motor. I already have the replacement. Exact match. Disassembled all wiring, accesories, ect. Hooked up to Cherry picker, wont separate from Trans. It is thourougly STUCK.
NEED HELP!
Removed all 6 Bell housing bolts from trans to motor.
Removed Starter
Removed all 4 Nuts from Torque Converter to Flex Plate
Supported Trans with jack, lifted Motor, wont separate?
Apparently it is stuck on the 2 Alignment Dowels. I have sprayed with PB blaster, I have tried gently prying on flew plate as I turn it to loosen, I have heated the Dowel Pin area, I cant really get anything in anywhere to pry. Its been married for 27 years to eachother. I have pics and video of what I am up against and what Ive tried.
If anyone has ran into this problem on an older ranger, please let me know what to do. I would have had this motor out 2 weekends ago, if it would have just separated!

4.0l OHV just has those 6 bolts
Try lowering and jacking up trans, the trans mount is loose correct?
The alignment dowels can have a good grip, and for good reason, lol, but they should loosen up if angle of trans is shifted a few times

No I have not loosened the trans mount. Why? I have jacked the trans up with a jack and engine on the hoist then lowered engine fast and it still wont break or loosen. Ive tried pushing, prying, the guide pins just wont release?? I have to be careful because the bell housing is aluminum. to much heat can cause warping, prying and such is bending metal. I've tried rotating flex plate and prying it through the starter hole, i can see it flex but it wont release the torque converter from the flywheel because the guide pins are glued together?? Im running out of options
UPDATE*****So, after prying, shaking, wobbling to no avail, I was just standing there talking with someone and the light hit it just right and I saw another bolt. And ofcourse one on the opposite side to match. So after all of this I can tell everyone that this Trans Bell housing to Engine has exactly 8 bolts and not 6. 94' Ford Ranger, 4.0L, Auto, 4WD, has 8 Bolts. Once removed, it easily separated. Torque Coverter stayed put nicely, and engine hoisted out with no issues. Happy Guy right here tonight!
