I'M PRETTY SURE THIS IS BAD

I took my baby (99 ranger xlt supercab 4x4 off road 4.0l) muddin the other night and since then its been shaking really bad when idle and driving. its also lost power. i went threw a 3ft deep puddle and the air filter got soaked so it sucked in alil water but i dont think that is the problem. could i be the plugs? it has new plugs and wires from a month ago but could the water have done something to them??

The water could've messed up the plugs. I would change plugs and oil asap.

It must be bad to be in all red and such large font.

Check your plugs, dry out your air filter and see what that does

did your replace the air filter? is there still a little water left in the air box? thats exactly what your problem sounds like.

Light a fire under the engine to evaporate all the water.

Just kidding, don't do that.

Yep. Change the oil, and plugs, and air filter.

On a related note...I had a friend submerge his 98 4.0 through a small lake. It made it out the other side but then it died. We pulled the plugs out, turned it over, and I **** you not, around a quart of water started shooting out all the plug holes. It was intense. Put the plugs back in, and it fired up and ran fine. Rangers are tanks. lol

If its still shaky after doing all of the above you might have hydro-locked the motor and done internal damage like a bent rod.

LOL!!! Justie effteedubya!!

time a million what everyone else has said but i'll add....Motorcraft PM-3 it!!

I did that(though I used SeaFoam) after the 4 sucking in's of water my old engine suffered. And it being a beat *** 110k engine, sucking in 4 big gulps of dirty, muddy water, and being driven by a punk *** teenager....the effer still ripped it up pretty good.
