Intake for a 04 4.0L
Hi, I am looking at cold air intakes for my 2004 4.0L. I was thinking about a K&N but heard that Volant intake are really nice as well! I went looking for a Volant one and theyre site says they only make them for 4.0L's up to 03, but I just found one on ebay that says it is for an 04-05. Anybody know what the deal is with this?
04-06 RANGER 4.0L VOLANT CAI Cold Air Intake 05:eBay Motors (item 370193956657 end time May-27-09 10:09:07 PDT) Volant Cool Air Intakes And as well any pros and cons of one system vs. the other or recommendations on the setup would be appreciated. Thanks |
That intake won't work for your truck. Volant never made an intake for the 04 and later engines. The listing is wrong.

Well judging by your avatar you must go offroading. I had the K&N FIPK and I didn't like that the filter has no real shielding from anything. It would be easy to get crap on it and hurt something. Also it sucks all the hot air so you lose some power.

Well on mine the shield sucked. It had a lot of gaps and I'm sure it didn't even seal against the hood. I think the 04 and up shield is a bit better.
Airaid looks like a good kit but it is just the end not the while tube. The stock tube is smooth on the inside anyway so running it wont hurt. Honestly though an intake wont give you much more power if everything else is stock. |
AEM!!!!

Don't even buy a spacer. They do nothing for Rangers.
