Most think its a waste since the majority of the intakes just end up sucking in hot air and net small (if any) gains on the hp/trq. Volant would be the best intake IMO. They use a good filter and it's an enclosed box. If I were you I'd do the air silencer mod and get a K&N drop in air filter that you can get at any auto parts store.

Air Silencer Removal

get a k&n and make your own aluminum air box (that is if you have a welder) so it doesn't suck nasty hot air

Removal of airbox

Okay so I have a 1994 Ranger XLT. I have a K&N cold air intake for it. I cannot figure out how to remove the airbox there are sensors and vacuum lines that I’m not sure if I can remove them or if I need to just keep them. How in the world do I remove the airbox?

Welcome to the forum

You should start your own thread
What engine size?
It matters as there were different air filter boxes and sensors placements

All Rangers from 1986 thru 2011 came with factory Cold Air Intakes, just FYI

The Box itself is usually not bolted in, it has plastic "pins" that fit into rubber grommets in the body
Usually you pull it away from the side of vehicle to release those "pins" then lift it up to release the "pins" on the bottom

Explorer air box seen here: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...e3-jpg.289306/

You can see the 2 side pins and the 2 bottom pins
Larger tube goes to the air vent behind the grill, where the Cold Air would come in
