I had the same sound and on mine it sounded like the noise was coming from the intake but I finally found the problem was a leaking brake booster gromet where the it goes from the intake to the brake booster. worth checking.

mine did that sound when you revved it. sound came from the intake as well. although mine was because the pushrod fell off the lifter haha. so i dont think thats your problem
