Loud whirling sound?

So when i'm accelerating there is a loud loud (louder than my exhaust ) whirling/howling sound coming from the engine bay. Sometime is even peaks with a very high pitched hard to hear squeak. It's been doing this for a while, I recently got a new 200 amp alt (did the big 3) so i don't know if that can be the problem (it did it before too) or are there any other ideas??

Thanks

Do this.. take off the belt and start the engine. If the noise is gone then you know for sure it's something in the FEAD system.

Now spin each thing by hand. All ought to spin freely and smoothly with no noise. The only thing that will have some axial play is the powersteering pump.

I had this problem it drove me crazy. I am going to say that it is your fan. The clutch has seized and is turning all the time.

Get a new one or get an Efan but get something quick because your gas mileage is going to suck. When my truck was like that I was getting 3MPG less than usual.

It does sound like a fan problem or a tensioner problem.

Does it sound like its coming from the intake? My IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) was dirty and made a horrible sound like it was sucking up and resonating ducks and parakeets. LOL its all I could compare it too.
