K&N or Bama Chip?
I know that i need both, but after tomorrow mornin i will have my exhaust so then i will need to decide which will be the next performance goody..
I figure if im gettin the air out better then i should get it in better. So should i get a filter/or full intake, or should i get a tuner next? I will get both in time but which will do more performance for me? Thanks |
I would go for the intake first. Wait on the tuner until you have all or most of your mods done so doug can tune it just right for your truck.

^^^ what he said

Doug's tuner will give you more performance. After you get your intake, you can e-mail doug and he can send you an updated program to add to your XCal 2 tuner (Via a normal USB cable) to update your truck for the new intake. I'm pretty sure he does that for free. If you don't have a USB cable...you can send it in for a re-burn...I believe he just asks for 5 bucks to cover the shipping cost back to you.
Just a drop in K&N filter wont do squat for performance. A full intake will help but Doug's programming will help a ton more IMO. |
forget the intake get a tuner then the intake.
|
Word. The tuner is a bit more pricey, but holy balls its like adding 4 intakes. Get the tuner first.
|
Tuner first.
Dont be fooled by stupid intake ads. If you dont have the exhaust to match all the air your sucking in. It wont perform at its best. With the tuner, it optimizes what you currently have. The Intake is not run really by programming, but what your computer reads through the MAF, and the tuner changes that. |
Tuner.

Leo knows more than me... go with what he says.
|
deff the tuner! by far, was the BEST mod i did for my truck!
|
Get the tuner first. You will not need a change in the program when you get a new intake unless that intake also includes a supercharger or turbo.
|
|
Get the bama chips tuner!
|
definitely cop the tuner
|
alright sounds like i should get the tuner.
is there any difference between the stage 1 and 2 besides the ability to read trouble codes? By the way, did any of you folks that have an intake actually notice a difference? |
I made my own intake :)
Following in another members footsteps, I just bought a civic chrome intake tube, had a custom Maf adapter made, put on a cone filter and saved 150 bux lol |
The intake can help with your IAT readings as well. Its not just flow of air, its also the air temperature.
Go with the tuner first. You can always re-program. D. |
Tuner......thats my next mod..... :-)
|
Ok, now I have a Mazda. Can Doug do one for my truck?

I too am thinkin about gettin a tuner. What should i get? How much does it actually help?
|
Ryan, the tuner helps A LOT! Nothing official, but I dropped a second on my 0-60 times and it's stronger all through the powerband on all programs. And I dont have the 92mph speed limiter. Get a tuner through Doug. You wont regret it.
