Well, The wait is over or about over anyway. Supersix motorsports is working on the 2005 mustang V6 and we can benefit. Ported heads are avaible and Cams and more stuff is on the way.

Update I contacted the guys at supersix motorsports and this is what I found.

Dear Super Six Motorsports

I am interested in your 4.0L SOHC heads. I was wondering if you had any dyno
results yet ? I have a ranger, I am more interested in gaining low RPM
torque then high RPM horsepower.

Thank you,
Ben

responce

Ben,
No, we don't have any dyno test results yet. LowRPM torque versus high RPM
horsepower, then you really don't want full ported heads. What you'd want is
this: ported exhaust bowl and exhaust port, milled .020" to raise
compression, leaving intake port stock and valves stock, but use a fresh
3-angle valve job. If you open the intake side, torque will suffer so you'd
want to leave the intake side alone.

How much would something like that cost and what would be an estimated gain
? Would that require using a higher octane gas ?

Thank you,
Ben

Ben,
$750, yes, you'd need to run premium with the increased compression ratio.

I think $750 is not bad for what you are getting. I would expect gains to be impressive enough. I know its alot of work to take the heads off and on but this combined with other things(chip, intake, exhaust, ect) and you would see even more gain. I think if I was going to do this I would wait until they have a cam to complete the package.

Interesting! So getting headers would not be a good thing to do? I thought headers were supposed to add alot of power?

Anything over stock is better.

Well I am mainly interested in low end torque, and it sounds like from what these guys over supersixmotorsports are saying the more free and open you exhuast is the better torque you can make. Which is why long tube headers make better torque because the exhaust is free longer until it comes together in the collecter. Shame nobody make a set of long tubes for our trucks.

I am sure the JBA headers do a nice job for horsepower and torque.
