Throttle body & MAF

97 4.0L. Still completing the rebuild. I bought a new BBK throttle body and a Jet high flow MAF some time ago (long before the rebuild), i just never got around to installing them. I also have a K&N kit as well. Can these go on the truck without a tuner? I am eventually going to get one, its just money is getting tight with the rebuild so i wont get a tuner until next year. My understanding from what I've heard is that it will trow the air/fuel mixture out of whack. Being that the engine is already apart, installing them now would be extremely easy. So what say you all? Thank you.

As a side note, can/should anything be done to the upper intake manifold to improve airflow?

I believe you could port and polish the intake manifold... Dont know if it would do any good without doing the lower too...Also, it makes sense that it would throw off the air/fuel mixture.
