Deal on Exhaust

Well I went back to one of the muffler shops today that I've been looking at for getting an exhaust installed. I wanted to check back with him in person so see what he would say to putting on 2.5 piping to 2.25 after the muffler and if he coudl cut me a deal for any flowmaster or borla systems.

He said that he could installe a flowmaster 40 delta isntead of an original with 2 inch pipe in and dual 2 inch pipe out for about 200 bucks. He said this becaue the 2 inch pipe was way less expensive for him to get his hands on. He uses aluminized steel.

My question is how much different would this sound that the systems that some of you other guys have. Would the delta 40 sound too much like a ricer and not enough like a truck? What about the 2 inch piping as well? He went out and showed me that the stock pipe was 2 inches and he said he'd replace all the tubing from the cat to the exits.

I'm just worried that if I jump on this deal that it will end up sounding like $hit. And that is not what I want after I've been going nuts trying to convince my parents into getting this done.

Please help!

I think you said he wants to do 2" exhaust in? You realize your exhaust is TWO AND A QUARTER INCHES right? SO unless you're going for backpressure, or too small of an exhuast, then you're gettin F'd in the A, so to speak. You want 2.5 inches in, dual 2 out, because 2.5" is a good size for your engine.

We went out and under the truck and he brought his tape measure...

We measured about 6.38 inches around the main exhaust pipe. 6.38/pi(~3.14) = ~2.03 inches in diameter. The pipe RIGHT after the cat was 2.5 then converted to the 2. Then it is a single 2 inch out and the end is widend to 2.25 inches. Maybe I have a F'd up system right now but that is what it is stock.

I thought it was 2.25 as well but he proved me wrong.

Interesting, I'll hafta go look. But its not gonna do anything going from 2 inches to 2 inches with dual out. I'd recommend going to 2.5".

mm my guess is ull get more backpressure for low endpower, n u might not get as much rumble. in my sig i have a link to my setup its a 40 2.25 dual out. i think the delta is suppose to be quieter...atleast from what i heard. someone correct me if im wrong.
