yellerEDGEchick Sep 6, 2004 05:02 PM

ranger024x4 Sep 6, 2004 05:16 PM

im gettin ready to put some flowmasters on mine but i think that the the sidepipe system is cooler but i cannot aford it

TippnOver Nov 22, 2004 11:04 PM

FLOWMASTER 40 series....eh, dual if u want, but those are all around AWESOME mufflers...well worth the $$$$$$!

Mnemonic Nov 23, 2004 06:27 AM

If you're going for sound, do the Flowmaster. Try dumping the exhaust.

blckout Nov 23, 2004 08:25 AM

Flowmaster 40 Series!! check out my sound clip :-)

FoMoCoFiddy Nov 23, 2004 12:35 PM

Borla, ill post my soundclip....

Not only performance wise, but it sounds sooo good....lol

SilentNoise Dec 20, 2004 10:07 AM

Where do you guys buy your exhaust systems from? Is there a site that offers a lot of good prices on Ranger products in general, or do you mostly buy from the factory?

FoMoCoFiddy Dec 20, 2004 10:14 AM

Most do custom installs, all 3 of mine have been custom.. lol

flowmaster 40 series... the best place to get it is your local muffler shop... call around before you buy though

n3elz Dec 20, 2004 01:39 PM

Keep in mind that with the serial high-flow cats on our trucks, sound gets damped a LOT before it ever hits the muffler. Some folks have reported that NO muffler gets as loud as they like it to be and even without a muffler it sounds "quiet" to them.

I wanted quiet and cheap so I just have a Dynomax -- but it wouldn't meet your sound spec's because it's way quiet. It does flow well though.

I have a single in/dual out 40 series Flowmaster run strait out the back with 3.5" Magnaflow stainless steel tips and it gets pretty dang loud. The big tips make a difference in volume....go with big tips if you want big noise.

SONICEDGE03 Dec 21, 2004 08:43 AM

I just picked up a CHERRY BOMB!!! I can't wait to put this thing on lol

blckout Dec 21, 2004 03:16 PM

oh dear..... a cherry bomb...

optikal illushun Dec 21, 2004 08:18 PM

i dont like FMs for performance, the baffeling kills the flow. for sound they are ok but everyone has one now it seems. did u try ditching ur stock cats for some high flow ones? also i agree, the tips make a difference. also the muffler size has a lot to do with it. my bud had a long magnaflow on his f-150 and it was quiet as hell but he went with the smallest one and it made a notable difference...

do u have a sound clip of ur magnaflow set up?

I'll second Dynomax. I'v got the Turbo/Race or whatever the hell they call it. The one I put on is 6" shorter than the stock muffler and the tubing is straight through, no baffles, thats why I like it. I'v got 2 1/4" straight tubing coming after the cats so basicly I have a "Dynomax Cat-Back" and its dumped. It sounds really good when you get on it, loud as heck, and real quite when your not. IMO its perfect. When I went stock a couple weeks ago the biggest differance I noticed with my "Butt Dyno" was takin the exhust off, stock sucked...

n3elz Dec 21, 2004 08:43 PM

Also, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY DITCHING THE STOCK CATS FOR HIGH FLOW ONES ON 2001 OR LATER (and mayber a few years earlier) RANGERS! The cats on the trucks are already a high flow design.

I really like this idea, and like someone said earlier, it would be different than going with the popular flowmaster you see on most peoples rangers. But when I started looking for this, I could not find a single roush exhaust for a ranger, so would it all have to be custom? Also, what other exhaust exits like a lightning? Thanks for your time.

Just an idea, but here is my Bassani cat back. It was a little pricey, but is all stainless steel and sounds awesome. It is pretty much a direct bolt on, the kit comes with every thing you need all cut and bent.

SilentNoise Dec 26, 2004 09:46 PM

I like that a lot, but I have a standard cab, and from what iv found they dont make one for me, or does it not matter?

ranger024x4 Dec 26, 2004 10:19 PM

I have a V-Force muffler with 2- 2.5in tips... its sounds great

ranger024x4 Dec 26, 2004 10:20 PM

also, u have to put them on the pass. side because the gas tank is in the way for the drivers side exit... get a shop to make a custom one... it will be a lot cheaper and probably better too

Ill take a pic of mine too... ill post it on in a few

ranger024x4 Dec 26, 2004 10:45 PM

lok at my carsdomain site... its on page 3... if someone can post it to this post that would help thanks

Sorry, from your sig. I didn't know reg. or ext. cab. They only make them for the ext. cab's. The way it's set up you would not have enough room to make it work on a reg. cab.
