4.0 Intake manifolds

Ok i was at ford today and i was told that if i bolted on a 4.0 mustang intake manifold it might boost HP by a bit..anyone know if it would..they werent a 100% sure but you never know hence im asking!...i kinda think it wont cause its listed at 207HP on the sticker and thats what our trucks have already stock with a diff intake? comments and thoughts would be awsome!

This has been brought up before....I am not replacing my intake manifold until an aftermarket one comes out that makes real HP gains, and or/a blower. hehe.

You could do that, or do the 4.0 explorer intake manifold. I hear the explorer intake is suppost to be good for some low end torque.

i'm not sure. I just remember a thread on a forum where someone did it. I'd have to look at factory specs between the two motors to see what the differences are hp/tq wise.

First thing you ought to do is see if the ranger and the stang are the same *ford* part numbers. If they are.. then there is no difference and not worth it.

It really depends on the length and size of the mustang intake runners compared to the runners on the truck. My guess would be that the runners on the ranger are considerably longer than the mustang. If the runners are shorter than the trucks then they would improve the top end at the cost of low end.

Also, are the cams the same on the mustang and a ranger? If the cams are different, an intake with shorter runners on the ranger will not do you that much good without cams designed to take advantage of the shorter runners.
