New Plug Hard to install

I have removed a old spark plug however now i cant get either the new plug or the old one to thread in more than a couple threads before it starts getting tight. I can plainly see that there is thread sticking out.

Does the thread on the old plug look damage at all?

Might be best to retap the hole before it gets worse.

This looks to be just the thing for that, since it shouldn't leave any metal in cylinder.
