O2 Sensor
O2 Sensor
How do you remove a seized O2 sensor in exhaust pipe ?
I am trying to remove a seized up O2 sensor from left port exhaust on a 1995 Ford Ranger 4.0 6 cylinder.
I tried almost everything including sensor tool, breaker bar, sensor tool with ratchet and pipe for leverage, lots of WD 40 Extra strength to soak in, running engine to heat up exhaust pipe, 7 / 8 box wrench.
Any other suggestions to try for removal would be helpful
Thank you

Bring cash and a new O2 to exhaust shop, will take them maybe 10 minutes once truck is on the rack
Try to make a cash deal up front before they start the work, independent shops are best
They deal with rusted out and stuck exhaust bolts all day long, they know all the tricks and have all the tools

O2 sensor
I was thinking of that and bringing it in
i just wanted to get it done before taking car in for inspection
Its one on left side, and not much room since frame is close and with exhaust pipe coming down
Not much room to get wrench or ratchet in there.

I read one post where the exhaust shop just pulled out the "Y" pipe(V6), Cats and all, got out the old O2 put in the new one and reassembled, I think he said it was 30min and cost $50 or $60
They also replace the rusty nuts and bolt

Running your engine wont heat up the pipe enough to free rusted threads. You either need to use a torch or my favorite, and inductive coil heater. Once you get it glowing, bolts just pop right out.
