Oil Treatment...ever use it?
 

Is oil treatment bad for your oil? Your opinions and explainations on why or why not? all that good stuff. i have heard a mix of good and bad things. just wondering for the 4.0

are you talking about the Slick 50 complete engine cleaner? if you are that stuff i dont think works......if you use it, use it with older oil because you should change your oil after using it...

some are good, some are not so good. The better brands like Marvel Mystery Oil & Rislone are proven and work pretty good. Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment work pretty good too.

For Engine Restore, a buddy of mine has an 89 ford Probe. when he bought the car, the cylinders were only pushing out 60psi across the board. He put the Engine Restore in and he claimed it bumped his compression up to 150psi consistently. This was before i knew him as friends so i can only trust him. -Mike-

I used Engine oil Flush's to Clear up a sticky Lifter on my impala, and it worked great. Figured it couldn't hurt and since the 396 had only 50K on it and the valve covers haveing never been removed, I figured It was my only option short of tearing into the motor. It's the only time I've felt I needed to though.

i always use one quart of lucas stabalizer every oil change

i dont believe in mechanics in a can, so im gunna say avoid em.

It depends on who you talk to. Some say they do no good, and some people say they work miracles. IMO if u are thinking of doing something like that, just switch to synthetic motor oil such as Royal purple or Mobil 1 (two of the best from what I've heard), or something. Synthetic is way better for your engine and lasts longer between oil changes.

what do you mean compression? i know what it means but not relating to an automobile.

My 1994 ranger 3.0 was making a ticking sound coming from the engine ever since the weather started getting cold here a couple months ago. after it was warm, the ticking would go away.

I bought a can of that RESTORE Engine Restorer & Lubricant yesterday morning and dumped it in, but didnt start truck.

went to work last night with about 10 degree weather and the ticking was gone. got out this morning at 6am with cold weather and snow falling and no ticking either.

it says on can to use at every oil change. $7 and some change for the bottle.
i use walmart supertech high mileage 10-40 oil.

164,250 miles on truck now.

i meant as in cylinder compression test in psi not like as in from 8:1 to 10:1 or something like that. When you perform a compression test using a compression gauge. -Mike-

i have tried a silver can called restore? it seemed to give my engine a little bump and i was impressed

I use lucas synthetic oil additives with every mobile-1 oil change in my truck

2 days now after using RESTORE and no ticking, it must have done something.

same with me but i use amsoil instead of mobil 1

My truck is doing the same ****!! that cold as night we had a couple days ago! thing was tickin like a *****! and it was running like shti.. then after 10min or soo.. it went away..

soo tonight I got paid and went out and got some 5w30 valvoline and a thing of lucus Oil Stablizer... And changed my oilll (previously had walmart oil 10w30in it) and i started it.. ticked like i figured.. but went away in under 5min! i think maybe this stuff works!

Yes the additives work, they all do something, now, there is no merical product, they all do their own special thing. I personaly run AMSOIL, never put an additive in my vehicle, nor have I ever had a knock, ping, or any other noises (knock on wood). However I have see it when we add AMSOIL or any other oil to a vehicle andthey start to make noise, put the additive in and poof it goes away. It all really depends on what is causing the noise,and what correction needs to be made, as to which product will work. Basicly don't put a thickner in an oil that is too thick, and don't puta thinner in already thin mixture. Gotta know the problem before trying to apply a solution.

WEll I started my truck this morning...TICK TICK TICK... for only 3 min this time.. but is this a sign of me needed new lifters or something? I jsut doesent seem right. Does that lucus stuff need a good day to work into the system? I only let it run ofr 5-7min last night at idle in my garage. ? what do u think?

prob has to work into the system but when i use it it does it thing pretty quick. and i also use the lucas unne up in a bottle for the gas additive ever oil change to make sure its all good.

u could also try sea foam cant hurt did it in mine and my mother toyota that ran like a dog and cleared it right up. threw the master cilinder vac hose and the gas tank

like i said, got rid of a ticking noise at startup, idles better and quieter, and rides better.

I think it's just like the Tornado air intake thing. Some swear by it, and others claim it's b.s. Because most oil additives aren't THAT expensive, best bet is to buy one and give it a shot. I don't think it could hurt, and you'll find out if it suited YOUR needs.
