Ok first off the problem is that when I brake I have a strong vibration in the steering wheel and front end. It wasn't very nonticable at first but progressively getting worse. I had this problem a while ago and took it to Ford for something else but had them turn the rotors while my truck was there. Boom vibration gone. But shortly before or after the I had replaced the driver side brake caliper because it had worn one pad down to metal and they other was like brand new. But now for the last month the vibration came back and getting worse. I figure a rotor is so worped it can't be turned. Thinking they only way to fix the problem is getting new rotors, so last week bought the drilled/slotted rotors from 'Bob'. They came today, jacked my truck up took off both wheels. All the brake pads are still really good and wearing evenly. Sitting at the passenger side I turned the whole assembly by hand and everything turns smoothly, but I sit at the driver side and it'll turn smoothly half the rotations and be harder to turn the rest of the rotation. I figure this is my worped rotor right here. Now I sit here on 'ranger-forums' tryin to get some answers before I install these new drill/slot rotors and possible mess those up cause I didn't find the problem. I would really appreciate any help. Thank You

I take it you have the caliper off the truck on the drivers side? If so is your truck 2wd or 4wd? If the caliper was still on when you were turning it then most likely the rotor is warped, that also describes your symptoms with the pulsation and shaking.

One bolt is off the caliper, so yeah the caliper is off. My truck is 4x4

The resistance you are feeling is most likely the front diff, you are turning the front driveshafts when you turn the one side.

Yeah it turns when I turn either side. The driver side is just a lil harder to turn becuase it's obviously closer to the front diff. but half way through the turn it gets much harder to turn. more resistance

You know I had the same problem when I bought it from the dealer and they said they would fix it. I took it in and they replaced the rotors but I still feel it slightly. I notice it when I stop at lights too though, not just in turns. Its not bad enough that I need to fix it, I just dont know what it is.

For the sake of it you may decide to put new pads on it while your at it. That way you know your covering your ass. Warped rotors will cause uneven wear on pads.

I hope I get rid of the problem completely. I dont wanna still feel it evenly slightly, but we'll see wht happens

If you replace the rotors and pads together then the issue will be gone.
