original, delta or super?

opinions pros and cons i dont know what the difference is im going sat to have then put it on but i dont knwo what one to buy

Urandaman Jun 20, 2007 11:26 AM

muffler im guessing?

i believe delta mufflers are quieter and have a low rumble to them... i had a pep boys delta 2muffler on my 4.6 f150 and it was just right.... till it fell off hahah

the only diff in them is sound really... a muffler alone inst going to show that much gain in performance... the difference in the gains(if any) would not be noticeable

I'm pretty happy with my magnaflow. It's supprisingly quiet considering you can see PLENTY of daylight through it. Step down on it and it has a nice tone/rap.

yeha im not lookin for power gain im fine with the amount of power i have now if i want more i would do an engine swap but me a good ol 302 =) i just want a low rumble tht makes it sound like my truck has balls..i like loud but not crappy sounding loud

I had an original 40 series on my '98 Ranger and it had a really annoying drone in the cab at highway speeds. I'd go with the delta flow personally, but it comes down to what you like. Personally, I have a Gibson catback and love it.

hows the gibson sound? and i saw a video of a pro-flo i think and it sounded meannn but i dunno

klc317 Jun 20, 2007 04:05 PM

Pretty quiet most of the time, but you can hear it. Slightly louder than stock. It has a nice low un-ricey sound.

Sonic04Edge Jun 20, 2007 04:36 PM

I have an original 40 flowmaster on mine and LOVE it!

MonsterGuy Jun 20, 2007 07:59 PM

u should try the new flowmaster Super 44 muffler. thats the next i'm going to get. louder then the 40's. i might hack off my 40 and buy and clamp on the 44!

mazda98 Jun 20, 2007 09:54 PM

i have the original 40 and i like it,it has a great rumble, kind of like a v-8 sound, but be careful who you have install it,i just went through heck, the person who did the install did not know, you were not supose to go past the flange on the flowmaster 40,so be picky on who installs yours, now keep in mind, this guy has been putting on exhaust for about 15 years and had no idea about the flang rule.

They don't have the torque loss like the original 40's either.

MonsterGuy Jun 21, 2007 04:43 AM

o thats even beter for me to try it. i have been thinking about ordering it for a wile now. 109$ form flowmaster websight

greygooseranger Jun 21, 2007 04:54 AM

I have a delta 40 on my 4.0 and I love it, the rumble is very deep and thats what I wanted, plus if you get into it....it gets loud. I noticed a little power gain and my fuel economy went up as well. Good luck with whatever you decide.

countryboy fx4 Jun 21, 2007 11:05 AM

what size inlet and outlet do i need?

greygooseranger Jun 21, 2007 11:22 AM

greygooseranger Jun 21, 2007 11:38 AM

countryboy fx4 Jun 21, 2007 12:05 PM

yeah stock tube but 3 in tips

greygooseranger Jun 21, 2007 12:27 PM

Are you going Duals? if you are, then I would have new pipe off the cat 2.5" into the muffler and then dual 2" out with 3" tips.

countryboy fx4 Jun 21, 2007 03:31 PM

yeah i want duals so i guess thats what i'l do

mazda98 Jun 21, 2007 08:15 PM

the inlet has a 3" peace sticking out of it,that is the flange that i spoke of,you are not supose to go past that.

i had a 94 3.0 5spd with a delta 40 on it with side exit and it sounded awsome and now i have a 00 4.0 im ganna be doing the same set up and cant wait to hear it.

countryboy fx4 Jun 22, 2007 09:26 AM

awesome im goign to get the 40 delta but im looking at them now and one goes in the center of the muffler and the other is offset to the side....does this make a difference in sound?
