When replacing the cam with a higher performance unit you should do the Cam Kit route.
New Springs, rated for your cam, new pushrods, all for two reasons.
1) being the manufacturer’s required length for the new cam, based on their manufacturing process (this applies to both the Springs and the pushrods) and 2) being the higher rpms you will be running and valve float so higher rate springs will be needed.
If this is just an OEM Spec replacement cam then new is good just in case there is something wrong with the old stuff and you wouldn’t want to get the engine running and have a pushrod or valve spring fail.

Everyone seems to recommend these guys for new push rods. I wanna say you need 5.5 but don't quote me on that.

Summit sells push rod length checking tools but they don't go smaller than 5.8 inches which is I believe is too long for the 4.0.

I do think there is more info over at RPS on this subject but I have not searched for a while. I decide to do a 5.0 swap instead.
