Torsion bar lift XLT offroad question

Hello, i have a Ranger 2000 XLT with the off-road package, and i wanna lift it up by 2 inch, i have heard that doing a torsion bar lift should be limited to 2 inch to prevent extra problem right?

I have also heard that the offroad package already has a torsion bar lift from factory, so i should not crank it more, is that true?

And if i crank it up by 2 inch, the front will go up, but what about the rear? Do i need extra component for torsion bar lift?

Thanks

The offroad package doesn't have an lift from factory. It has stiffer bars than other trim levels. You can crank it. I personally would only go enough to level it out with the rear.

I only want to crank it up by 2 inch, though what would be the most simple and cheap solution to crank up the rear by 2 inch?

If i want more later, ill probably just body lift.

If you crank the bars enough to raise the front 2 inches, you'll wind up being about level with the rear. Why would you then raise the rear another 2 inches?

I get you want to lift your truck, mine is lifted, but I don't think you understood my question. If you're going to lift the front to be level with the rear, you don't need to lift the rear at all unless you want "rake" or whatever you call it when it looks ghey lifted more in the back than in the front. I highly doubt your truck came leveled from the factory.

Ive spoke with a technician and they told me they were a "hair" taller, but i wanted to lift it as much as i can with stock setup without risking having axle and pinion issues, then if i want more ill just body lift.

So i guess id rather just lift the front then body lift?

The Ford Repair Manual for 2002 Rangers indicates the front ride height specs are the same for all 2002 4WD Rangers. There is a different specs for new and used but they are still the same for any 4WD. I suspect the same is true of 2000 models also.

The 2002 FX4, from the factory, sits higher than a standard 4WD Ranger because the FX4 came with taller tires. The way Ford measures ride height is done on suspension components and tire height has no effect on what Ford calls ride height. So if the 2000 off-road came with taller tires than a standard 2000 4WD Ranger, it could sit a little higher.

I already have a 3" body lift but I want a bit more? Best bet is some new torsion keys or is there a reasonably priced alternative!? Hit me back

Torsion keys are a waste of money. Crank the bolts tighter to lift. Same thing but free

x2 Just crank your bars and get it aligned after you do it

Why is it so impossible to find a decent lift (other than keys) for a 4x4? Keys are literally the only option

Because most are torsion suspension.

98-04 f150's were torsion, newer chevy's might be (my buddy's 06 2500 is) most rangers from 98 on are.

Those aftermarket keys are a waste of money. Some dude in my town has a 3" BL, those stupid keys and a set of 32's or 33's. He told me and I just thought wtf were u thinking. I have a feeling he cranked them further.

If you really hate your torsion suspension you can order the brackets on here and drop $1000 for coil overs.

You can do the super lift, coil over conversion, or solid axle swap.

Only one of those is the best option lol

Super lift is an option but expensive.. Unless you find a good deal on a used one. That's just the way ranger torsion bar suspensions go.

That's also why I have fullwidth axles waiting to go in. The stock front end components just are not as strong as I would like them to be. I wear stuff out faster than I would like only being on 31's. This is what keeps me from getting a lift kit.

Because it has to be a bolt in system to fit a IFS suspension in a market that isn't that big. The more years that went by, the less and less they were offering things for the rangers unfortunately.

The Superlift is really expensive and almost as much as a decent sas parts price but it is an easy bolt in option for the most part. That is probably the thing I disliked the most but it isn't to big of a deal if you have the skill, tools, money, etc to go sas. This is also why you see a lot of body lifted trucks because even though most of us hate them, they are really about the only good option to begin with for gain vs cost.

Ok.. Here's one for you. Just throwin it at ya cuz you have an 2k ranger. My truck will get to a decent speed usually around 35 or 40mph (right around 1.5k rpms) and then it jerks really hard like its stuck. When I put my foot In it, it pushes through it and keeps movin. I've tried a lot (plugs, wires, fuel system/filter) Now it's starting to idle a bit odd and I think this issue is related. Also it's showing a check engine with the code "Evap emission cntrl" "System vent ctrl circ" it's really buggin me.

Can you try to be a little more clear about how it jerks like its stuck? What do you mean by the idle is odd? At one point my idle was low and kind of bounce around and I couldn't start the truck without pressing the gas. So I cleaned the IAC valve with some electric parts cleaner and that solved my problem.

Only happens right around the 1500rpm range and it just jerks/ sputters like something isn't firing correctly or it's not getting fuel properly and if I leave my foot on the gas in that exact spot where it starts the jerking it will stay like that until I give it more gas. Rpms come up and it drives fine after. And when it idles it kinda just sounds weak and the whole truck shakes a bit. Those are the only two symptoms. Other that all I can say is it just doesn't feel like it's getting all the 4.0 power I feel it should
