Plastic Valve Cover?
Plastic Valve Cover?
somehow mine developed a hole in the side of it and im leaking oil the damn thing is next to impossible to get off and is a pain in the *** to get to...do they make metal valve covers for the 4.0sohc? i leave in 4 days and i have no vehicle to drive...
The oil and pressure inside the valve cover should not be very high. Take some acetone and wipe the oil off. Then some duct tape over the hole should keep you driving til you get it fixed.
Might want to take the pcv valve out and spray it out with carb cleaner too.

Oh damn. I completely forgot those were aluminum! Looks like I'll be doing that when I take care of these damn timing chains and/or replacing the shortblock.
... i think you missed my question. I know their from an OHC (00 and older) version of the 4.0, the OP was going to put them on his 4.0 SOHC. since they are different engines i didn't know if parts could be interchanged between them.
It's OHC explorer is the same as the (S)OHC in the ranger.... OHV is the 2.9 based 4.0 found in '00 and older rangers and explorers. The 4.0L SOHC was introduced in the Explorer in approx '97. It was also introduced in the ranger in '01.
They are not different engines.
