Pulled the heads out, need headers help
Now some of you may have been following my previous posts. Truck was running like sh... crap. 1997 4.0 OHV. So i'm halfway through the rebuild, which basically means the heads are out and i'm getting them redone, decked, and port and polished. I ordered JBA headers through summit, but they are for the SOHC engine which obviously wont work since mine is the OHV. Now my question is what headers should i get? What years will work? the JBA for the 98-00 OHV look like they would fit... but the rep for summit told me JBA doesnt make them for my year. The only ones i've seen are pacesetter which i'm hesitent to buy since i've heard they rust easy. But is that true of their ceramic coated ones? Who on here has a 97 OHV with headers? need help! (P.S. i have high flow cats, and a full catback so with a port the headers should be worth putting on) thanks.

nothing? i kinda need some help here

Header selection is slim to none.
If you can't find a set that'll fit, you'll have to buy flanges and have a muffler shop fabricate a set for you. Not cheap, though. |
I have JBA's on my 99 ohv with no egr.
They should fit your app if you delete the EGR. Not sure what the return policy on these if they dont fit in mock up. |
I have pacesetters that fit my 96...97 can't be that different can they?
|
they have pacesetters for my 97. how is the quality? i just heard they rust easy
|
I heard that as well. So i ordered the painted ones. Got them sandblasted. Then hit them with exhaust manifold paint. Haven't had a rust problem yet
|
What about the ceramic coated ones? They're only $30 more than the JBAs i ordered and they come with a y-pipe. I would imagine those wouldn't rust very easily. Then again, in New York, nothing is permanent...

Couldn't tell ya. Doesn't sound like a terrible idea tho
|
i think those are the ones i'm getting
