Pulse Damper

I got a really stupid question but on a 2005 ranger/b4000 4L does it have a Pulse Damper on one of the fuel rails? And if so where does the vacuum line go?

long story, its a rebuild

Pulse damper was on the drivers side fuel rail, passenger side has a schrader valve for pressure checks. Vacuum line should go from damper to the vacuum line that runs off the drivers side valve cover. I had to tee a vac line by the valve cover when I did my rebuild, previous owner removed the damper and plugged the rail. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

Pulse damper is a sealed rubber diaphragm, its there to absorb fuel pressure pulses from injectors opening and closing, so they don't "reflect" off the end of the fuel rail
The vacuum hose is there for SAFETY, if Damper should leak the fuel would be sucked into the intake not drip on HOT engine or exhaust

Vacuum line can be hooked to any direct intake vacuum port or line, if this vacuum hose ever has gasoline or smell of gasoline, replace damper
This vacuum line is a "sealed line", doesn't "use" vacuum, just there for safety

Maybe they like car fires

Most likely it got left off after engine work and since it doesn't effect engine operation it was never noticed as being missing

Not the best photos, but this is what I rigged up when I was in your situation.
In the first photo, if you follow the dark black hose around the coil pack it terminates at the damper. You can see the small copper circle on the damper.

The second photo is the tee I added at the valve cover vacuum port.
